Beacon East

Beacon East broker and organise a wide range of exciting professional development opportunities for teachers, lecturers, advisers and other education professionals. This professional development largely focuses on providing PDPs in business and industry.

What is PDP?

PDPs (Professional Development Placements) provide the opportunity for teachers and education advisers to spend time with local business and industry. This form of professional development is designed to support the delegate’s work e.g. curriculum support, management skills, careers advice, IAG (Information, Advice & Guidance), WRL (Work Related Learning), enterprise and so on. PDP is a vital EBL (Education Business Link) activity and is seen by many schools and colleges as an invaluable way of improving employer engagement. Business Studies and Economic teachers can use PDP as a tool to enliven the curriculum. PDP has been instrumental in developing case studies, curriculum resources and a wide range of industry linked student activities. For examples of PDP programmes in the east region go to Beacon East www.beacon-east.co.uk . Teachers looking to find out more about PDP in their local area outside the east region should go to their local EBP (Education Business Partnership) contacts.
