Good teachers recognise the importance of continuously developing their subject knowledge and teaching skills. In our subject areas, many teachers turn to the EBEA in order to learn from fellow professionals who have faced similar challenges and have expertise to share. As your subject association, we seek to identify valuable knowledge and expertise and work hard to share it with members through the most appropriate medium - as an article, webinar, workshop, podcast or conference.
It is important that being an active member of your subject association receives the recognition it deserves. That is why the EBEA recognises this engagement by bestowing 'Fellowship' on members.
There are three levels of EBEA Fellowship:
Fellowship
Senior Fellowship
Senior Fellowship is awarded to experienced practitioners who support the professional development of others through the development of one or more of the association’s professional development resources. For example, an article, webinar, conference presentation or podcast.

To qualify for Senior Fellowship, Fellows should apply in the first instance to the Head of Professional Development, via the 'Apply Here' link below, choosing either a topic area from the following list, or one of their own choosing (subject to approval).
- Using AI to enhance student learning
- How students learn in business and economics
- Characteristics of highly effective subject teaching
- Effective subject leadership
- Developing higher-order thinking and writing skills
- Learning from the real world
- Raising attainment from B to A*
- Creating independent learners
Applicants are assigned a mentor who will guide them through the association’s CPD quality assurance processes and act as a peer reviewer.
The award of Senior Fellowship is made by the EBEA’s Awards Board who will notify both the applicant and their Head Teacher or Principal of the award. The post-nominal designation is SFEBEA.
If you are interested in applying for Senior Fellowship, contact the EBEA's Head of Professional Development, Gareth Taylor, indicating any topics of interest. Gareth will forward an application form, answer any questions you have and assign a Principal Fellow mentor.
