Senior Fellowship Applications Open

We are delighted to announce the launch of the EBEA's Senior Fellowship Programme. The programme awards Senior Fellowship to business and economics teachers who make a contribution to the professional development of others through the completion of a review of a topic area. The expected outcome from such a review would most likely be in the form of an article, but could also be an EBEA webinar, EBEA conference presentation, blog and discussion or podcast, or a combination of these. Applicants undertaking a review will be mentored throughout by a Principal Fellow who will help them identify the best approach and act as a 'critical friend'.

The aim of each topic review will be to investigate good practice based on available evidence and summarise it for the benefit of EBEA members.

This year’s topics are;

  • Using AI to enhance student learning
  • How students learn in business and economics
  • Characteristics of highly effective subject teaching
  • Effective subject leadership
  • Developing higher-order thinking and writing skills
  • Learning from the real world
  • Creating independent learners
  • Understanding and teaching challenging topics in economics and business
  • Inclusive practice in business and economics
  • Integration of sustainability into the curriculum

Applicants will be awarded Senior Fellowship on successful completion of their review and be entitled to include the post-nominals 'SFEBEA' after their name in all appropriate professional settings including on their curricum vitae, centre email signature and on their professional social media account profiles. They also receive a certificate sent in the first instance to their head of centre.

Applicants need to be a current member, either as a New Teacher, Individual or covered by Institutional membership. If you would like to upgrade your membership to one of these categories, simply go to www.ebea.org.uk and click ‘Join Us’. The closing date for applications for this academic year is Friday 31st October 2025.

If you are interested in applying for Senior Fellowship, contact the EBEA's Head of Professional Development, Gareth Taylor at gareth.taylor@ebea.org.uk indicating any topics of interest. Gareth will forward an application form, answer any questions you have and assign a Principal Fellow mentor.
